In addition to The Stripe, the university also boasts The West Downs Centre. Formerly a public boys school, the grade II listed building was sensitively restored to provide a modern teaching and conference centre. The building consists of 64 en-suite bedrooms, 2 plenary rooms seating up to 120 delegates and 12 breakout rooms. Located on the outskirts of the historic city of Winchester, the university is approximately one hour from London by car and train, and just 15 minutes from Southampton International Airport. With over 1000 bedrooms and 70 meeting rooms, the University of Winchester has an established reputation as a conference venue in Hampshire. In June 2005 the university opened a new lecture theatre, The Stripe. Seating 320 delegates, this modern centre is perfect for conferences, with large breakout areas and state of the art audio-visual equipment.
